Austria and Turkmenistan are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. On this occasion, a round table was held, the main theme of which was the motto "Dialogue is a guarantee of peace. The event was organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Austria and was held at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna.
The roundtable included Susanne Kepler-Schlesinger, Deputy Director of the Vienna Deepakademie, Thomas Buchsbaum, Special Envoy for Eastern Cooperation at the Austrian Ministry for European and International Affairs, International expert Vladimir Goryaev, former OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier, head of the Turkmen-Austrian Association, delegates from the Austrian Foreign Office and intergovernmental organizations, diplomats, academics and university professors.
Turkmen Ambassador to Austria Silapberdy Nurberdiyev briefed the audience on the achievements in the Turkmen-Austrian relations over the thirty-year period. He also spoke about the key vectors of Turkmenistan's foreign policy, which aims to strengthen cooperation at the bilateral and multilateral levels, as well as partnerships within influential global structures.
The global initiative of Turkmenistan "Dialogue is a pledge of peace" is aimed at consolidating the aspirations of the global community to strengthen the norms of peaceful symbiosis of the peoples of the whole earth, to achieve equality and respect for territorial integrity, to implement the Sustainable Progress Goals.
The Turkmen state has an officially enshrined status of permanent neutrality. It plays an important role in ensuring peace and stability in the region by successfully implementing its peace-loving foreign policy strategy.
Speaking, the Turkmen side noted that the motto of this year in the state is "The era of the people with Arkadag". In this regard, there will be a number of actions aimed at increasing the global community's perception of the importance of Turkmenistan's neutral status as a significant motivator in guaranteeing progress and stability in the region.
The conference participants also discussed similar and distinctive features of Turkmen and Austrian neutrality. They also discussed opportunities for further development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Austria in all key areas of interstate partnership.
After the main event there were presented anniversary awards timed to the 25th anniversary of Turkmen neutrality. From hands of the Ambassador of Turkmenistan in Austria Silapberdy Nurberdiev the state awards were received by V. Goryaev L. Dzannier and D. Kere - the Burkina Faso diplomatic representative in Austria.
Professor Volgang Harrer, the artistic director and conductor of the Galkynysh music ensemble, was also awarded a prize for his significant contribution to strengthening Turkmen-Austrian cooperation in the cultural sphere. Turkmen diplomat S. Nurberdiev awarded him a certificate of honor on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Turkmen independence and the 12th anniversary of Turkmen-Austrian orchestra "Galkynysh".
