Gulmurat Myradov, head of the Central Election Commission, presented a detailed report on last Saturday's presidential election at an expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan. The report highlighted the high quality of the nationwide event, which was praised by international observers. The CEC head stressed the democratic principles, in accordance with which the Turkmen people expressed their will. The high voter turnout, which exceeded 97%, was also noted.
Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov instructed the Chairman of the CEC on behalf of the government to acknowledge the most active organizers.
Myradov's report also contained data on the course of the election campaign, which was also held in compliance with all democratic standards. All nine candidates were in equal conditions, had equal amount of airtime and opportunities for campaigning in the capital of Turkmenistan and in velayats.
