On October 23, the 19th ministerial meeting in the format "Central Asia - European Union" was held in Luxembourg, where Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov addressed the meeting. This is reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen side noted the importance of maintaining peace and security. In this context, the Minister spoke about the initiative put forward by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to develop a Global Security Strategy. The importance of interregional trade, economic and financial cooperation was emphasized.
In addition, R. Meredov emphasized that the development of the Caspian Sea-Black Sea route, which will connect Central Asia and Europe, plays a special role. The Foreign Minister called on Turkmenistan to support the country's initiatives within the UNGA in the field of sustainable transportation and mobility of energy resources.
In the field of nature protection, the Minister spoke about national programs and the initiative to establish the Regional Center for Climate Technologies. It was also proposed to strengthen ties between universities of Turkmenistan and Europe.
