President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with President of China Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Central Asia-China Summit in Kazakhstan. Following the talks, the parties signed an agreement on technical and economic cooperation between the governments of the two countries.
The Chinese leader highly appreciated the traditionally friendly relations and strategic partnership with Turkmenistan and conveyed greetings to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero Arkadag. President Berdimuhamedov in return conveyed warm greetings from Arkadag.
The centerpiece of the talks was the discussion of the long-standing cooperation in the fuel and energy sector, including the export of Turkmen natural gas to China. The sides also considered prospects for expanding trade and economic ties in the textile industry, railroad transportation and agriculture.
The Turkmen side presented an initiative on the formation of a Global Security Strategy under the auspices of the UN with a focus on the role of developing countries. The International Forum in Ashgabat in December 2025 dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Confidence and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality was announced.
Xi Jinping congratulated Turkmenistan on the UN declaration of 2025 as the "International Year of Peace and Trust" at the initiative of the republic and invited the head of state to the next SCO Summit. President Berdimuhamedov, in turn, invited the Chinese leader to visit Turkmenistan.
The sides confirmed the coincidence of positions on key issues on the global and regional agenda based on the principles of friendship, equality and mutual respect. Turkmenistan noted China's support for the country's neutral status and its initiatives in the sphere of regional security.
