Ashgabat, July 15 - Arzuw.news. An official event on the occasion of Bastille Day organized by the Embassy of the French Republic was held in the capital of Turkmenistan. Arzuw.news reports with reference to Orient.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Turkmenistan Philippe Merlin delivered a welcoming speech in which he expressed support for Turkmenistan's initiative to declare 2025 the Year of Peace and Trust. The diplomat noted the importance of the visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to France on May 5, 2025 as a significant milestone in the development of bilateral partnership.
The Ambassador highlighted promising areas of cooperation between the countries, including telecommunications, cyber security, sustainable urban development, water management and education. Within the framework of partnership development, joint projects with French companies THALES, Airbus, SUEZ, CARPITech and Bouygues Türkmen are being implemented.
Turkmenistan's Minister of Education Jumamyrat Gurbangeldiev congratulated the French people on their national holiday and reaffirmed the commitment to developing cooperation. He noted that French is taught in more than twenty-five schools in the country, and from the new academic year will be introduced into the program of the International University of Humanities and Development.
The parties signed a Roadmap for 2025-2026 for the implementation of joint programs. The cultural program of the event included a fashion show by Turkmen designer Govher Gouverneh and musical performances. Videos on the activities of French archaeological and scientific missions in Turkmenistan were also presented.
