Digital opportunities for landlocked countries discussed in Avaza

Connectivity event

Avaza, August 6 - Arzuw.news. The National Tourist Zone Avaza hosted the event "Connectivity: Digital Opportunities Beyond Borders" as part of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries. This is reported by the State Information Agency of Turkmenistan.

The Forum was organized by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States together with the International Telecommunication Union.

The event brought together government representatives from landlocked developing countries, international organizations including the UN, major financial institutions, the private sector and civil society.

The Forum provided a platform to discuss the Avaza Action Program to support landlocked countries and the role of digital technologies in their development. Participants noted that landlocked developing countries face challenges to sustainable economic development due to the lack of direct access to sea lanes, which creates difficulties in transportation and communication.

Experts emphasized that digital connectivity offers great opportunities for such states. The development of digital infrastructure helps to overcome geographical barriers and gain access to global markets. Digitalization allows landlocked countries to participate more actively in international trade and increase the efficiency of transport and logistics systems.

Special attention was paid to the introduction of digital technologies in public services, which improves their quality, especially in the fields of education and health care. The participants considered the directions of development of the digital system in accordance with the five priority areas of the Avaza Action Program, including institutional reforms, science, technology and innovation.

During the event, participants were introduced to Partner2Connect initiatives and the International Telecommunication Union's Digital Infrastructure Investment Initiative.
