Former U.S. ambassador to Turkmenistan talks about security in the country

July 29, /Arzuw NEWS/. Former U.S. Ambassador to Turkmenistan Allan Mustard, in his post Facebook, commenting on news CBSnews, spoke about the level of security in Turkmenistan during his diplomatic service:

When I was in Turkmenistan, I considered myself lucky that I was not being chased by a bodyguard and did not need to use armored vehicles. I could easily go to the nearest store for ice cream and drive around Ashgabat in my unarmored RAV4. My U.S. colleagues in the rest of the region were less fortunate.

- writes the diplomat.

The CBSnews publication that Mustard commented on describes the new U.S. post in Iceland, Jeffrey Ross Gunther, appointed last year, demanding that the U.S. State Department request that Reykjavik authorities provide him with personal security, permission to carry firearms and an armored car.
