WHO experts paid a working visit to Turkmenistan

An expert mission of the WHO European Office consisting of Ivo Rakovac, Regional Advisor for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) Surveillance, WHO ERO, and consultants on prevention and control of non-communicable diseases Sergey Bychkov, Laura Vremis, Enrique Gerardo Loyola Elizondo and Natalia Fedkina paid a working visit to Turkmenistan. This is reported by the Internet publication "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".

WHO mission came to Turkmenistan to organize a training workshop to prepare for the third phase of STEPS research in 2023. The training was attended by specialists from the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry, members of the STEPS study coordination group.

Participants were familiarized with the specifics of the study, the stepwise approach to surveillance for non-communicable disease risk factors, interviewing techniques and data collection.
