Meredov and Lavrov signed a cooperation program for 2025-2026

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation met in Ashgabat

Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov today signed the Program of Cooperation between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries for 2025-2026. The meeting was held in the building of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry within the framework of the Russian Minister's visit to Ashgabat.

The diplomats discussed the development of Turkmen-Russian relations in political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres. The sides emphasized the importance of regular dialogue between the leadership of the states for strengthening interstate ties.

Lavrov noted the role of constructive dialog at the highest level in deepening the strategic partnership between the countries. The talks highlighted the importance of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov's participation in Moscow celebrations on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The Ministers also drew attention to the upcoming visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Russia to participate in the XVI International Economic Forum "Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum 2025".

The Foreign Ministers exchanged views on the regional and international agenda, noting the fruitful partnership in multilateral formats, including Central Asia-Russia. The sides also discussed plans for upcoming consultations between the diplomatic services of the two states.
