An event dedicated to the Turkmen poet was held at the UN headquarters

On March 25, a special event under the motto "300 years following the road of peace and trust of Makhtumkuli Fraghi" dedicated to the World Poetry Day was held at the UN headquarters in New York. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The event was organized by the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the United Nations in cooperation with UNESCO and TURKSOY. The event was attended by the heads of the UNESCO Delegation to UN Headquarters and the International Organization of Turkic Culture, the President of ECOSOC, Permanent Representatives of UN Member States, staff of diplomatic missions and UN agencies.

During the speeches of the speakers the special significance of the UN decision on the international celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of Makhtumkuli Fraghi and the declaration by TURKSOY of 2024 as the year of Makhtumkuli Fraghi was noted. Video clips about the life and works of Makhtumkuli were shown, the participants were presented with collections of selected poems of the poet and memorable gifts.
