OSCE initiates opening of Cyber Security Center in Turkmenistan

The Center for Cybersecurity opened today at the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics in the Turkmen capital. The purpose of the Center is to support the national government in its efforts to improve cybersecurity and help the Institute prevent cyber threats.

The opening ceremony of the new Center was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education, the management, professors and students of the Institute of Telecommunications.

The head of the OSCE in Ashgabat, John MacGregor, delivered a speech. He emphasized that Turkmenistan had shown its readiness to implement the OSCE Permanent Council decisions of 2013 and 2016. Proof of this was the adoption of state cybersecurity programs for 2017-2021 and 2022-2025.

During the ceremony, the new Center in Ashgabat received innovative high-tech equipment from the OSCE, which will make it possible to conduct relevant research and ensure a high level of cybersecurity in the country.
