Ashgabat, May 21, /Arzuw NEWS/. UN office hosts seminar to discuss proposals
on the draft joint Action Plan to mitigate the socio-economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in Turkmenistan.
Representatives of the government, private sector and non-governmental organizations took part in the workshop. Elena Panova, UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, opened the meeting with a short introductory speech. After that, the floor was given to Natia Natzvlishvili, UNDP Resident Representative, who presented the five areas of response to the social and economic impacts of the pandemic, as outlined in the UN global guidelines for immediate response to the social and economic impacts of COVID-19. These areas include:
- Improving quality and access to basic health care services;
- Social protection and basic social services;
- Jobs, support for small and medium-sized businesses;
- Macroeconomic stimulus and multilateral cooperation;
- Social harmony and community resilience.
Afterwards, the workshop participants were divided into five groups to discuss the development of proposals for a draft Joint Action Plan to mitigate the socio-economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in Turkmenistan. Then, after some time, the participants of the groups presented their proposals for further joint implementation of the project.
