Ashgabat, May 21, /Arzuw NEWS/. UN office hosts seminar to discuss proposals
on the draft joint Action Plan to mitigate the socio-economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in Turkmenistan.
The seminar was attended by representatives of the government, private sector and non-governmental organizations. Elena Panova, UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, opened the meeting with a short introductory speech. After that, the floor was passed to Natia Natsvlishvili, UNDP Resident Representative, who spoke about the five areas of response to the socio-economic impact of the pandemic, stipulated in the UN Global Guidelines for Immediate Response to Socio-Economic Impacts COVID-19. These areas include:
- Improving quality and access to basic health care services;
- Social protection and basic social services;
- Jobs, support for small and medium-sized businesses;
- Macroeconomic stimulus and multilateral cooperation;
- Social harmony and community resilience.
Afterwards, the workshop participants were divided into five groups to discuss the development of proposals for a draft Joint Action Plan to mitigate the socio-economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in Turkmenistan. Then, after some time, the participants of the groups presented their proposals for further joint implementation of the project.
