President Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated Turkmen carpet masters on the Turkmen Carpet Holiday, wishing them health, family prosperity, longevity and success in their work. The congratulatory speech of the President was published in the Internet publication "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".
The President emphasized that the traditions of carpet weaving originated in Turkmenistan many centuries ago and have reached the present day thanks to the labor and talent of skillful craftswomen. Turkmen carpet has become a true national treasure of the country, impressing the whole world with the beauty and filigree of intricate ornaments.
The traditions of Turkmen carpet making are included in the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the XXIII Forum of the World Association of Turkmen Carpet Connoisseurs "Turkmen Carpet - the Soul of Turkmens" started its work on May 27. The event is aimed at preserving, popularizing and developing the ancient traditions of carpet weaving.
