Turkmenistan and Iran discuss prospects for cooperation in the oil and gas sector

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Iranian Oil Minister Javad Ovji, who came to Turkmenistan on a working visit, in Ashgabat. This was reported by the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

The Iranian Oil Minister conveyed greetings from Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi to the President of Turkmenistan and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to discuss topical issues of cooperation in priority areas.

The President of Turkmenistan thanked the guest for the visit and emphasized confidence in the fruitfulness of bilateral meetings and negotiations that will contribute to the further development of relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, the sides noted the high level of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Iran based on the original traditions of friendship, good-neighborliness and equality, as well as the successful development of interstate relations in both bilateral and multilateral formats, particularly within the framework of international organizations.

Productive ties were noted in trade and economic sphere, fuel and energy complex, transportation and communication, construction, agriculture, as well as strengthening of relations between representatives of the private sector of the two countries.

Particular attention was paid to cooperation in the oil and gas sector, for the expansion of which new opportunities are opening up. The President of Turkmenistan expressed readiness to consider all proposals and initiatives of Iranian partners in this area.

At the end of the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan and the Iranian Oil Minister expressed confidence in further progressive development of constructive interstate dialog.
