A 3-day webinar on the main stages of the World Trade Organization (WTO) accession process started in Ashgabat. The online seminar was prepared by the OSCE Center in the capital city.
The main objective of the event is to study the experience of WTO member countries in organizing accession negotiations with the Organization, as well as to help improve Turkmenistan's trade policy.
Speaking at the opening of the webinar, Natalia Drozd, Head of the OSCE Center in Yerevan, noted that not so long ago Turkmenistan received the observer status in the WTO. Congratulating the country on acquiring this status, Ms. Drozd spoke about the goals of the online seminar. The event is designed to support Turkmenistan's efforts to develop its national economy, strengthen international partnerships, optimize the investment climate, enhance and improve export trade.
The webinar will provide participants with comprehensive information on the key steps towards WTO accession, the functional purpose and structure of the organization, and decision-making formulas. A WTO representative as well as Georgian and Montenegrin experts will lecture on these topics.
