Vepa Hajiyev met with the Director of the Department for Turkmenistan's Accession to the WTO

On May 29, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vepa Hajiyev met with the Director of the Department of Accession to the World Trade Organization Maika Oshikawa, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The parties discussed the process of Turkmenistan's accession to the Organization. The Turkmen side has already developed an action plan for the period 2023-2024, which envisages specific steps to expand interaction with the WTO.

Turkmenistan is currently conducting internal work to prepare a Memorandum on Foreign Trade Regime, which is a prerequisite for accession to the WTO. The state is actively cooperating with the UN and international financial organizations on accession to the World Trade Organization.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence that following the developed plan will lead Turkmenistan to progress in the issues of accession to the WTO.
