Turkmenistan discusses cyber security with UNODC

Meeting with the UNODC Regional Representative for Central Asia, Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan

Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan M. Byashimova held a meeting with the Regional Representative of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime for Central Asia, Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan Oliver Stolpe. This is reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The central theme of the talks was cooperation in countering modern challenges and threats. The participants of the meeting paid special attention to the implementation of the UNODC Program for Central Asia for 2022-2025, which has been extended until June 2027.

The key topic of discussion was cybersecurity and the importance of the UN Convention on Cybercrime. The signing of this document is scheduled for October 25-26, 2025 in Vietnam.

Turkmenistan reaffirmed its readiness to develop partnership with UNODC in the areas of cyber security, countering synthetic drugs and human trafficking. The participants of the meeting noted the importance of the adopted National Action Plan for 2025-2029 on combating human trafficking.

During the talks they also considered organizational issues of the upcoming joint activities in the current year. The sides expressed mutual interest in developing partnership and emphasized the need to coordinate efforts to effectively counter modern threats.
