Berdymukhamedov and Xi Jinping discuss strategic partnership at summit in Kazakhstan

Meeting of the President of Turkmenistan with the President of the People's Republic of China

Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Chinese President Xi Jinping on June 17 on the sidelines of the Central Asia-China Summit in Kazakhstan.

The Chinese leader praised the traditionally friendly relations and mutually beneficial strategic partnership between the countries. Both sides reaffirmed their joint work for peace and stability in the world arena in accordance with the norms of the UN Charter.

Xi Jinping said China supports Turkmenistan's neutral status and its initiatives in regional security, energy, transportation and ecology. In turn, Turkmenistan supports Chinese initiatives.

The Heads of State discussed priority areas of cooperation in trade and economic, energy, cultural and humanitarian spheres. They paid special attention to the strategic fuel and energy sector and its development on the basis of mutual benefit.

The Turkmen side advocated the expansion of trade and economic ties in the textile industry, railroad transport and agriculture. The leaders also considered the prospects of creating sustainable interregional transport and transit corridors.

Berdimuhamedov informed about the upcoming International Forum in Ashgabat in December 2025, dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality. Xi Jinping congratulated his Turkmen counterpart on these remarkable events.

The Chinese President invited the head of Turkmenistan to the next SCO Summit, and Berdimuhamedov invited the Chinese leader to visit Turkmenistan.

Following the meeting, the ceremony of announcing the agreement on technical and economic cooperation between the governments of the two countries was held.
