Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with Iranian Ambassador Ali Mojtaba Rouzbehani on June 14 to discuss the tense situation in the Middle East region.
The Turkmen Foreign Minister expressed concern over the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East and reiterated Turkmenistan's commitment to the status of a permanently neutral state. Meredov emphasized that the republic, following the principles of the UN Charter, is categorically against the forceful resolution of any disputes.
The Iranian diplomat informed the Turkmen side about Tehran's position on the latest developments in the region. The participants of the talks unanimously expressed their support for the use of exclusively diplomatic methods of conflict resolution within the framework of international law and the UN Charter.
Rouzbehani thanked the leadership of Turkmenistan for the quick resolution of humanitarian issues concerning Iranian citizens. The Ambassador also expressed gratitude for the assistance of the Iranian official delegation, which was returning home after a visit to a neighboring country in the region by transit through Turkmenistan.
