The capital of Turkmenistan hosted the first quarterly dialogue between representatives of the government of Turkmenistan and members of public organizations and private sector actors. The subject of the conversation was adaptation to global climate change. The national water management policy of Turkmenistan, digitalization of water accounting, and remote sensing monitoring of agricultural lands were among the important topics of the discussion. Representatives of the private sector spoke about their experience in these areas.
The adaptation measures necessary to correct the negative effects of climate change must be carefully coordinated. And the involvement of many actors, including private sector actors, many of whom are leaders in the application of innovation, is very important here.
The meeting was organized by the United Nations Development Program in Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection. Financial support was provided by the GCF.
