The Presidents of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan met in Tashkent. They discussed cooperation in the field of transport, the increased number of shipments of various goods. In 2021, their volume increased by 17%. This year, the parties plan to maintain this growth and achieve a regular increase in this indicator.
To make the transit potential more efficient, reciprocal benefits and discounts for freight transportation between partner countries are being introduced.
During the meeting, the Uzbek side also expressed interest in expanding cooperation in the energy sector. The Amu Darya Agreement was also discussed here, which makes it possible to use the country's water resources in a more balanced way.
