Avaza, August 7 - Arzuw.news. The Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) continued its work in the format of plenary sessions in the Avaza National Tourist Zone on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea. This is reported by the State Information Agency of Turkmenistan.
On the second day of the forum, participants focused on discussing ways to overcome isolation from world markets and obstacles to the socio-economic development of landlocked countries. Heads of state and government, representatives of international organizations and the private sector are taking part in the conference.
Discussions centered on the development of effective mechanisms to overcome the obstacles posed by the geographical location of landlocked developing countries. Participants stressed the importance of modernizing transport infrastructure, including ports, while ensuring environmental sustainability.
Delegates noted the need to consolidate efforts at the global and regional levels in the field of transport under the new 10-year programme. Special emphasis was placed on attracting investment in logistics, infrastructure and freedom of transit to address the challenges of landlocked countries.
Conference participants expressed support for the Awazi Program of Action as a significant contribution to the sustainable development of landlocked developing countries. The program for the next ten years includes national action, regional partnership development and a global strategy for sustainable development.
The Awazi Agenda for Action is intended to be a future-oriented roadmap for transforming vulnerabilities into opportunities for the people of landlocked countries.
