Negotiations with the IOM Regional Coordinator for Central Asia were held in Turkmenistan

On December 10, 2024, talks were held between Serhan Aktoprak, newly appointed Regional Coordinator for Central Asia of the International Organization for Migration, and Myahri Byashimova, Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan. This is reported by Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan.

Myahri Byashimova congratulated S. Aktoprak on his appointment and expressed readiness to continue mutually beneficial cooperation. During the meeting, the parties discussed topical issues of partnership relations in the field of migration control and outlined the tasks for the nearest period.

It was noted that Turkmenistan became the first state in the Central Asian region to become a member of the Global Alliance to End Statelessness. The parties also emphasized the successful implementation of plans for joint projects with IOM, the realization of which was scheduled for 2024.
