On June 5, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted political consultations between representatives of the foreign ministries of the two countries aimed at strengthening interstate relations.
The Turkmen delegation was headed by the Head of the Middle East Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, while the Turkish side was represented by the Head of the General Directorate for Central Asia and Organization of Turkic States of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Togan Oral.
During the talks, the participants emphasized the traditionally high level of bilateral relations and the importance of regular dialogue between the diplomatic services. Special attention was paid to the importance of contacts at the highest state level.
The diplomats discussed the prospects of developing political and diplomatic ties, expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation and improving the legal framework between the countries. The sides also confirmed their intentions to intensify cooperation both at the bilateral level and within the framework of international and regional organizations.
A significant part of the consultations was devoted to economic partnership. The participants noted the important role of the Turkmen-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation and the Turkmen-Turkish Business Council in the intensification of trade and economic ties.
Diplomats explored opportunities to expand partnerships in key economic sectors, including trade, energy, construction, industrial cooperation and transportation.
In addition, the sides expressed mutual interest in deepening cultural dialog and developing cooperation in science, education, sports and health care.
